For this #TBT I wanted to tell you more about my new series of portraits, "Children of Emptiness". This piece is titled "The Swallowtail Butterfly", oil on canvas, 9x11" from my solo show earlier this year at COREY HELFORD GALLERY. What first came to mind while creating this series was the image of a butterfly. In my religion, butterflies represent that meditation gently allows us to evolve and grow like in a cocoon of calmness and stillness, so that we can accept ourselves just as we are. The children in this series are not painted from my imagination like the others, but rather they represent my own mind and feelings, making each like a self-portrait.
